In the UK every month many hard-working people that are already struggling to make ends meet are harassed into making payments for debts that they don’t owe or are statute Barred by unscrupulous debt collection companies. These companies often lie, use underhand techniques and reckless behaviour to get payments.
In several cases false reporting of debts has defamed a person’s credit file resulting in a reduced credit score.
These unscrupulous companies often exploit people and families that are already struggling financially, often leading to mental health issues, depressionand anxiety.
Dealing with these companies can often be mentally challenging and vulnerable people feel unable to communicate with them.
Debt Step is a charity on a mission to get the rules on debt management changed and made fairer.
If you are being harrased by a debt collection company and feel unable to deal with the situation we can help!
We can contact the company on your behalf and act as an impatial mediator between you and them.
We can investigate the debt and if its not owed or status barred can issue a A cease-and-desist letter for debt is a written demand instructing debt collectors to stop contacting you, protected under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA). Which stops any further harassment, such as phone calls and letters etc.
Our services are free of charge, however we do have to make a small one off charge of £20 to cover some of our postage costs..
